A bill that would give the Legislature power to block agreements between the governor and Indian nations for casinos located off reservations cleared an Assembly committee Thursday, but Gov. George Pataki indicated he may not sign the legislation because it doesn't allow slot machines at Indian casinos.

The gambling measure joins others such as gun control, sexual assault and hate crime bills that Pataki has called for and could be ready for Senate and Assembly votes when the Legislature returns to the Capitol next Thursday, Pataki said.
