Laboratory test results that could confirm if rabies killed an 11-year-old Sullivan County girl will not be available until next week, and the state Health Department on Friday advised anyone who close personal contact with the girl to get immunized.
Also Friday, authorities said they had ruled out a cat incident as they way the girl could have been exposed to the virus. The girl was helping a cat which had been in a fight with another cat in the month before she became sick. Both animals are still alive and would have been dead by now if they been rabies carriers.
